It happens more often that most people realize. Fast Bros Phone Repair can help.

First, we’ll cover some of the common do’s and don’ts.

Do Not

  • Apply heat. Do not try to heat up the device to dry it out as this can cause more damage to vital components
  • Use forced air such as a hair dryer or canned air. This can force water further into the phone possibly doing more damage
  • Use vacuums to pull air from your device as this can also force water further into your phone
  • Power it on. It is best to leave it off to avoid the risk of a short circuit
  • Push buttons on the device. This can allow water or liquids to get further into the phone increasing the damage potential
  • Shake the phone to remove water. This will only make things worse by forcing water into more areas of the phone

Using an absorbent material (rice or cat litter) will absorb moisture but this can spread water to more of the internal components and possibly do more damage. Therefore, we do not recommend it except as a last resort.

Do

  • Leave it powered off. Powering it on can cause a severe short circuit
  • Dry the outside of the phone. This will prevent more liquid from entering the interior of your device
  • Bring it to us as soon as possible. The faster we can get to work the better the chance to restore it

Water damaged devices can take between 24-72 hours to complete depending on the severity of the damage. There is no guarantee we will be able to restore your device but we are successful over 75% of the time.
